About
Taylor White is an American painter and muralist whose work engages with the fundamental nature of being. Her style presents a compelling fusion of figurative and abstract painting, a signature technique that captures the nuanced choreography between the seen and unseen forces that shape our existence. Skillfully rendered figures are set against bold abstract elements that fragment reality, inviting the viewer into a deeper realm of interpretation in a dynamic interplay that speaks to the interconnectedness of life. White’s renderings of living forms are intimate and evocative, expressing a deep understanding of physicality and presence. Her use of bold colors and dramatic contrasts encapsulates the vibrancy of the human experience – the tangible and the ethereal, the individual and the collective, the grounded and the transcendent, the momentary and the eternal.
White was raised in Raleigh, NC and educated at the Savannah College of Art and Design, completing her BFA in Illustration in 2007. Upon graduating, she began contributing her efforts to acclaimed Oslo-based advertising agency TRY/Apt, as the first and only full-time illustrator hired in a Norwegian agency at the time.
Three years later her choice to pursue painting brought her to Australia, where she found a new kind of success traversing the textures of urban environments, furnishing the streets and galleries of Melbourne with her uniquely haunting, expressive portraits of forlorn youth.
She has exhibited internationally from Melbourne to Berlin, LA, Miami, Atlanta, Chicago and Detroit. She has contributed to public art events for Juddy Roller, Outer Space Project, Richmond Mural Project, Murals in the Market, Branded Arts, BLINK Cincinnati, and SCOPE Miami Beach. In 2018 she collaborated with Google Fiber to create one of the largest public-facing Augmented Reality murals in the world. In 2021 she completed Raleigh’s second Augmented Reality mural, “8-Bit to 5G,” a tribute to the future of gaming and esports in the City of Raleigh.
White's distinctive and immediately recognizable visual style has garnered attention from an array of prestigious clients, including Google Fiber, Hyatt Hotels, Mellow Mushroom, Microsoft, Lululemon, AC Hotels by Marriott, The NC Courage, Mack Real Estate Group, and Kane Realty Corp. Each has sought her out for her unique ability to breathe life, color, and emotion into her works, making them not just visually arresting, but also deeply resonant with audiences around the world.
She is currently based in Raleigh, North Carolina.
